Solar Renewable Energy Certificates

Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs) are another way of providing value to solar owners. For every 1,000 kWh (or 1 MWh) of electricity that your solar system generates, you earn one SREC. When the Virginia Clean Economy Act was passed in 2020, it opened up the market in Virginia for SRECs.

Through Solarize, your installer will help walk you through this process.

We have also partnered with a local aggregator, Sun Tribe Trading, for folks that already have solar installed but are not yet getting any value from SRECs. If you have any questions, feel free to email srec@suntribetrading.com and let them know you are coming through Solarize Virginia.
