We are very excited to bring this opportunity–and our clean energy future– to our community one roof at a time. In order for our team to perform the preliminary satellite assessment and connect you with one of our solar installers, we will need you to accomplish the following two steps:
- Utility Bill with 12 months of usage – Please submit a copy of your most recent electric bill. If you do not receive your bill by mail, it is available online. Dominion customers, please visit www.dom.com. Rappahannock members, please visit www.myrec.coop for your eBill. CVEC customers can find their eBill at www.forcvec.com. APCO customers, please visit www.appalachianpower.com (Registration required if you have not already created an online account.) Please send your usage to info@solarizecville.org or fax to 434-326-5375. You can also mail your document to LEAP, Attn: Tammy Rykal, 608 Ridge St, Charlottesville, VA 22902.
- Solar Seminar – We also require that you attend one of our one-hour solar seminars. The seminar will include information about the campaign process, technical details, financing options through the UVA Community Credit Union, tax credits, and more. Installers will be on hand to answer all your questions. See the complete calendar on the Upcoming Events page. You can attend a seminar any time it’s convenient for you. Bring along an electric bill and you can get qualified to have a solar site assessment on the spot.
Once you send in a copy of your utility bill and attend one of our solar seminars, we will perform a satellite assessment and contact you for more information about the suitability of solar for your home. In the meantime, you can get further acquainted with Solarize Charlottesville by perusing our website. You can also sign yourself up for a discounted Home Energy Check-Up*, an evaluation of your home’s energy efficiency that includes the advice of one of LEAP’s Energy Coaches, the installation of energy efficient products such as CFL light bulbs and smart strips, plus a checklist of additional energy-saving measures for your home.
